2 weeks after I returned from Bangkok, it was time to fly again. This time, it was a rushed trip down to Jakarta to attend a dear friend’s wedding. While this was definitely not a time to be in the city concerned with the protests still on-going, I decided to take the risk and go ahead anyway. Meanwhile, several embassies were issuing advices to their citizens to leave as their safety could no longer be guaranteed.
Arriving at the airport with about 2 hours to spare, my partner and I dropped off our bags at Row 3 (internet check in) as we have already booked our seats online. I decided to explore more of the newly renovated Terminal 2 this time and I actually found out that the Sunflower Garden was still very much in existence! Thank God.

Renovation for Terminal 2 is 90% completed.
Since there was some time to spare, we proceeded to Terminal 1 where the photo opportunities yielded more variety.
As the airside was crowded, usual for this time of the evening, we retreated to the SATS Premium Lounge to while away some minutes and savor the tranquility. This lounge, newly renovated too, was a much welcomed change as compared to the old one – which was a sorry excuse for an airline lounge. Catering has also improved in leaps and bounds! A buffet spread was actually put out pretty much like what was in the Silver Kris Lounge next door.
As for what was happening outside, it was just heaps of SIA aircraft parking, taxiing, and pushing back. YAWN…. Welcome to Terminal 2.
2055H: Boarding call… It was time to head towards the departure gate for this evening – F54. It was already filled to the brim within that there was hardly an empty seat. There were mainly families with squirming little ones and other transit passengers.

LSS Christie was standing very upright at Door 2L as warmly welcomed us on board. 9V-SQA, despite being SQ’s first 777, looks immaculately spotless within. Come to think of it, this plane is almost 10 years old! How time flies!
2105H: Doors closed. Time for the hot towel service from our Singapore Girls! Indeed, FSS Maya Dharma (what an interesting name!) appears next to us and smiles…
“Hot towel, Sir?â€
