Celebrations for Chinese Lunar New Year were in full swing, and the crowd at the airport was proof of it. Rather than stay home this year, my family decided that it would be nice to visit some relatives in Bangkok for a change. So off we went.
As we have already checked in over the internet, it was just a simple process of proceeding to Row 3 to get our boarding passes and check in our bags. Seats were already carefully selected thanks to my mum and she made sure that my dad and I had window seats!
The departure concourse was rather chaotic this time of the year and so we all proceeded airside, not that it was any more peaceful there!
The renovation for the Terminal 2 airside gallery was finally completed. In place of the old one was an area that was bright and airy but because the ceiling was 2 storeys high, it now robbed the view of the public viewing gallery immediately above it. I think the cactus garden is also missing as I could not find it at all.
The rest of the airport remained largely the same except the model of the SQ A380 being displayed. Cannot wait to see that ugly monster arrive in full SQ colors, I reckon the excitement would be similar to when the 747 first flew.
1900H: Amidst the departure holding lounge were hordes of Singaporeans heading to Bangkok, and the other half consisted of Japanese continuing on to Kansai as part of SQ 974.
Jubileeless
1905H: Announcement for the boarding of Raffles Class, PPS and families traveling with small children. Thanks to my 2 year old niece, we get to board the plane first.
9V-SRN has seen better days. Once the pride of SIA (well, it still is!), the seats are now pretty worn. My lumbar and thigh support’s air cushions are deflated and do not work at all.
FSS Ruby seemed to be assigned to my aisle tonight as she is shuttling back and forth escorting pax to their seats like she did with me. Although picture perfect, she seemed a bit too enthusiastic in trying to speak with a slang.
“gOOd eVEning, Sir. Can I sEE your BOARding pASS PLEase…â€
