The leading hotels in the world

  USA - PHILADELPHIA - LOEWS  - [website]

HISTORY

Loews Philadelphia Hotel occupies the PSFS Building, a National Historic Landmark and the world’s first Modernist skyscraper. Built in 1932, the building is widely regarded as one of the most significant architectural structures in the United States.

Converting old office buildings into hotels: In Philadelphia alone, the Loews Hotel and the Ritz-Carlton (both opened in 2000) are housed in converted bank buildings. Celebrated, time-tested architecture and hospitality continue to merge, offering travelers the unique opportunity to spend the night in an architectural landmark. The 583-room convention / business hotel is located directly across the street from the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

The PSFS building was at the height of modernity in 1932. This tradition of
providing state-of-the-art technology continues in many forms. Our Rooms are equipped with many facilities and not to mention an incredibly powerful view

DINING AND LOUNGES
Right inside our front doors you’ll find one of the city’s most spectacular public spaces — The Restaurant at PSFS. Rich exotic woods, tall ceilings, plush fabrics, carved glass. It’s a tribute to the original modern style of the building when it was a bank. But updated to display sleek art deco touches yet to be found anywhere else. The grand space and unique atmosphere bring in the curious. The amazing regional American menu turns them into regulars. The chef demonstrates that creative presentation doesn’t stop with the décor. Sauces swirl around lovingly prepared entrees. And the blend of Caribbean and Southern flavors add yet another level of distinction to this venue. A meal has never been so entertaining.

The Restaurant at PSFS:

The house specialty? Chic and trendy with a little retro mixed in. That goes for the unique, upscale atmosphere as well as the fare, where upwards of 50 styles of grilled cheese sandwiches are part of the chef’s repertoire.

Tellers' Bar at PSFS:

If you want a taste of the jet-set life, this
is a good place to start. Sink into the plush Art Deco couches and chairs, order a quadruple-distilled potable, and get ideas for that house in Fiji you plan to have someday.

Editors note: Excellent Business Class Hotel in the Middle of the Business District, with a tasteful restaurant and with function- and special events space available.
