Comments: The Hotel St Francis in Santa Fe (New Mexico), USA was selected among the 50 Best Hotels in the World by Hemisphere Magazine in 2000. There are 83 comfortable guest rooms and suites in the Hotel. Each room and suite is unique with high ceilings and original windows and furnished with brass or iron beds and period pieces in cherry and oak. This hotel was built in the 1880's. The present owners remodelled the whole structure and reopened it as the Hotel St. Francis in 1986. Luckily, the bathroom is no longer down the hall. All of the individualized rooms have marble bathrooms - sometimes very small. The lobby, libraries and reading-tables on the hotel floors look great. The hotel still has the look and feel of a proud past, but can by no means live up to modern standards. The great historic atmosphere comes well recommended, but modern day travellers may want to pass for a more practical, inconspicuous new hotel.
