Comments: “The Hotel's Role in the History of Mallorca
EIt was the year 1229 when King Jaime I of Aragon conquered Mayurqa, at
that time under the government of Wall Aby Yahyah. This conquest was not,
however, a one-man enterprise. Sure enough, this military campaign was
promoted and funded by several feudal lords, both ecclesiastic and civilian,
and also by traders, which led the King to act as the leader of a big
trade venture. Therefore, once Mayurqa (already named Mallorca) was incorporated
into the Catalan-Aragon confederation, its territories were distributed
among the barons and the King himself. However it was not this first parceling
of land that permitted the fabric of the future Majorcan society, but
rather the successive apportionments that barons carried out, having decided
not to establish themselves in this new Christian kingdom. Consequently,
the partitioning of these lands originated the vast agrarian properties
of the first Majorcan noble families. Receiving a portion of that original
partition quickly meant belonging to the highest social class in Majorca.
It's a great hotel where you can relax and play some golf as well. A very
friendly staff and well worth the 5 star ranking. It just had a major renovation and opened after one year at the beginning of this year. For all the photo's please check HERE
