Dorint Hotel Am Gendarmenmarkt***** - Berlin, Germany
Comments: A nice and cosy hotel in former East-Berlin.
You'll get five star luxury, but without stiff service. The hotel staff
is indeed very friendly and the breakfast comes highly recommended.
The designer breakfast room has a stunningly relaxed atmosphere and
the variety of the breakfast buffet is unbelievable; the best we've
experienced so far. Enjoy your morning meal in beautiful surroundings
with a complimentary German or international newspaper before you walk
to the churches, palaces, university, state library and opera house
right around the corner. The Hotel is ideally situated, close to Berlin's
most beautiful street Unter Den Linden and the Brandenburger Tor. Designer
shopping malls and the famous French department store Galleries Lafayette
are only a few steps away.
The room service in the hotel is incredible. Any time we stepped in during
the day for a small rest or quick stop, the maids somehow saw us enter and
quickly renewed any towels used and even folded our toilet paper back into
the pointy shaped start. Although rooms were not very big, the decorating was
very tasteful with a television-built-into-a-glass-cube to keep up designer
atmosphere. The hotel lobby counter was daily decorated with brightly coloured
fresh fruit - ready for the taking. A very comfortable stay indeed. And if
you, for whatever reason, decide to give a party in Berlin, the Dorint Hotel
Am Gendarmenmarkt is the place to go. The 80's dance floor and lighting in
the fabulous party room will give you that great Saturday Night Fever...
