Hotel: The Peninsula, Bangkok
Type of room: Deluxe One Bedroom Suite
Purpose of trip: Leisure
Price: part of airline package (CX)
Date: September 2003
Comments: A superb hotel on the 'wrong' side of the Chaopraya.
But their wonderful boat service to the pier opposite is convenient enough
because the Saphan Taksim Skytrain station is only a short walk from it.
The rooms are nicely furnished in a very warm, homely manner. There are
many gadgets in there. The curtains are electronically drawn. There is
a TV in the bathroom, the phone in the bathroom has a handsfree function
at a press of a button. There is a cubby hole in the dressing area where
you can leave your shoes in the night, press a little button, and they
will come back, together with a newspaper, in the morning all clean and
shiny! Service is good and discrete. The downside is a lack of restaurant
choice, spa not luxurious and big enough.
